College Week

Last week we had our college week while other half of our class were doing service in Mexico. We visited BYU on Tuesday, UVU on Thursday, and U of U on Friday. It was really a nice college tour, and it seems like I found my goal became clearer than before. The tour stimulate my ambitions to get in my dream college and major.

Who Am I ? - I am in different characters at the same time: a daughter, friend, a citizen of my country, and so on. But for now, the most important role i am playing is a student, or more specifically, a student who is getting ready gor the senior year and all kinds of tests to get in a dream college. I didn't realize how little the time has left for me to study for all those tests until i went to the college otur last week, especially for me, as an international student, i have to prepare for more tests than the native students (ACT, SAT, and TOEFL).They made me feel so stressed out and it seems like I have been lost in a fog for a long time that i dont know what to do with it. But now, i know who I am and I know what I'm going to become, I know how to achieve my goals. I know I have to pay all my effort. "Time is money", there's no any reason for me to waste all my time watching dramas or shows, or to sit in front of a computer and spend the precious time on Facebook. To change from who i am to who i want to be, i know i can as long as i 'm trying my very best.

What Was I Born To Do ? - Actually i 've already thought about that long time ago. At that time, i told myself "all you need to do is to satisfy your parents, do what they want you to do, and be what they want you to be. " I just need to obey my parents on everything for no reason. Both of my parents are business man, so i want to major in business and get in a good business college, that's all my dream. It might sound very unbelievable for many of the American students, but for me it's been the truth or the "doctrine" for me since i was born. But now, i found that i have to change it a little bit, i have to have the dream for myself and live for myself, not only for my parents. I still want to get into a business college and major in business, not because of my parents, i just found that i love it, and feel like that's how i can create my own world. So if you ask me now, what am i born to do. i will say, to achieve my own dream.

What Is Stopping Me? - As a teenager, the internet is still the biggest enemy for me to stop me from achieving my goals. Dramas, TV shows, movies, and those online games drag me away from focusing on study. Even though i know that's wrong for me to do things except for study, i just could not control myself sometimes. But at least, now i realize the importance for me to work harder and get over all the temptings from the internet, and i know what is that means by "a minute does farm work, a minute harvest." I will get over all the troubles and focus on what i should do.

Join The Conversation

There are many conversations going on about the Church whether or not we choose to participate in them, but we know that we need to stand on our own side to defend ourselves and explain who we are.

Perceptions of the Church are established one conversation at at time. As the new generation of the world, we know about the new technology better than the old ones, we use the internet all the time and we have a certain degree of knowledge of how internet works and how it brings news to people.

So, we can join the Church conversation by participating on the internet to share the gospel and to explain in simple and clear term the message of the Restoration.

Many people hold different opinions about the Church, and so of them only have a poor understanding of the Church because most of the information they hear about the Church is from news media reports that are often driven by controversies. And these controversies might confuse people on the perceptions of the Church.

What we need is to spread the truth of the Church in our word and correct the misconceptions that were already spread out and call for accuracy. Participate in the internet to make this work in a better efficiency and make people understand the Church better.

Sharing the Gospel Using the Internet

-"The Lord, over the centuries, has had a hand in inspiring people to invent tools that facilitate the spreading of the gospel. The Church has adopted and embraced those tools, including print, broadcast media, and the Internet." As we know that the Lord created everything in the world, He is also keep inspring us to invent news things. For the purpose of spreading the gospel throughout the whole world in an easier and faster way, people were inspired by the God and invented the modern high-tech tool, Internet. This invention helps us to know about the world better and we do actually participate and play an important part in it. We can feel the obligation for us to spread everything true from the Church and bring blessing to people all over the world.

-"Satan is always quick to exploit the negative power of new inventions, to spoil and degradem and to neutralize any effect for good." As the God is inspiring us and leading us toward a right way, the Satan is also "fulfilling" his obligation to lead us towards him which would bring us calamities and misfortunes. For us, we should make sure that we know what is right and choose what is right as we always stand on the God's side and obeying His commandments. In all those use of new media, we need to make the choice which can expand our mind, increase our opportunities, and feed our souls. Remember to do what the Lord wants us to do, because we are representing Him and shows His morality to other people. Say no to pornography is choosing the right, especially for teenagers like us, temptings always lead you getting closer to Satan's plan. Just be sure to tell yourself, always choose the right.

My Perfect Day

In such a cold winter, the perfect day for me is to just stay at home and never care about whether it's sunny, windy, or snowy outside of the house or not.

I like to sit in a comfortable sofa with a joyful book makes yourself a quiet moment to enjoy the spare time, to see where did the protagonist go and what did he do, is he having a happy time like me, or what troubles did he meet... When you drench in a book, you would never know how fast the time passes by until your best friend call you and remind you that she's coming over to your house.

Then the rest of the day is for her. Having a little sip of warm chocolate when making a little chat with your best friend, and probably with some light music on. We both talk about how life's going, and maybe some girls' little secrets. HA.. Then the feeling of hunger from our body reminds us that it's dinner time, both of us put on our aprons and be ready to show how good we are though we are not sure do we really good at cooking or not :P But soon, the smelling of baking and cooking was all over the kitchen and shows that we did a great job. What's next, of course, enjoy our meal! Everything seems simple, but all those little things make a perfect day for me.

The book, friendship, music and the chocolate could all warm up the world around you and never make you feel cold any more, no matter it's the cold outside of the room or inside of your heart:)
